It all started as a little website in 1990 in Glasgow, Scotland. It wasn't called Where you belong then. It wasn't even all that different from all the other online shops carrying adwords and affalite banners, except for one thing, the founders had a better idea. You see, during summer 90s's online shopping, the online shops did not have online stragety with regards online marketing.
One site for selling hundreds of products this was what most online firms where doing the local shops dont know what to do with online selling.Where does everyone buy from, the shopping centre of course. That was the idea: to be the first online shopping network to move into UK's popular shopping town locations online.
The first online shop opening was in 2005 in Glasgow. It was huge with over 800.000 visitors a year. Soon we opened seven more geo targeted online shops up and down the coast in places like Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Inverness and other Scottish Locations. By 2006 we had grown to 21 online Shops.
But Where you belong wasn't the only good idea born at Where you Belong 90s. All online shops we then offerd to sell local shops products and goods directly on our network. this allows local shop keepers and retailers to sell direct from our network.
One day my partner designed our online brand "whereyoubelong" in the office The brand? "Whereyoubelong".
The Shopping sites expanded with buying out of other local shopping stores over the last 3 years.
we expanded outside of Scotland for the first time. We opened up online shops on the North of England and ran into some snags. But we caught on quick and so did our vendors and affiliates . Our online shopping brands moved into whole of the UK in sept 2008 when we bought up the remaining sites and domain names from several diffrent firms and indivaduals.
Our visitors and traffic began to climb. last year we had over 3.700.000 visitors to our shopping network and "where you belong" got bigger and so did our shopping network. We introduced European sites in sept 2008 for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Norway, Holland, Sweden,and other European locations. To help fill in the Gap.
We then bought into the USA and Canada online shopping market in 'Sept 2008 and the traffic you couldn't buy it fast enough. We were at 400 stores when we rebranded as total name of Where You Belong.
It's a blur after that. We introduced product sites and geo targeteted networks, expanded the shopping store network size, opened our first South American online store, opened our first affiliates shopping site in local retailing,just kept growing. From one local web site shop to over 450 online stores and 89 European online outlet stores being launched in end October 2008. New Store Locations for Novemeber 2008 30 plus United States online sites and 13 Canada stores.
